Avant’s version of the holiday classic is abridged but no less a spectacle with dazzling costumes and live music. Choreographed by Paul Mejia, this version appeals to all ages. Tickets for the one-night-only evening performance are available online and at the door. Nov. 17

The Texas Ballet Theater company splits its time between Dallas and Fort Worth for multiple performances of the holiday classic. The Nutty Nutcracker, the dancers’ comedic interpretation of the original, is one night only, Dec. 16, in Fort Worth.) The magic of the ballet includes not only the familiar score and lords and ladies leaping, but snowfall, too. Nov. 25-Dec. 24
