With summer’s lack of rain, the roadside landscapes have been pretty dull this season. But once in a while, in those areas where the city turns into country, we’ll spot a bunch of perky sunflowers standing tall despite the 100 degree-plus temperatures. In fact, they turn their faces toward the sun, absorbing the relentless and unforgiving heat. We appreciate the color, of course, but admire their perseverance even more.
