With our short Texas autumns, the turning of the tree leaves — one of life’s simpler pleasures — can be a fleeting but intense reprise from our day-to-day worries. Leaf peeping isn’t as popular here as it is in some states, but there are many local tree varieties that herald the new season with a blaze of color. That said, with last winter’s brutal freeze, the relatively mild summer and the late arrival of fall (even for Texas), we aren’t sure when the turn is going to happen this year. Will we be hanging holiday lights and raking the lawn on the same day? Maybe.
